100+ Women put donation into play
Making a school and community playground “the best it can be” will be the result of the Spring Event 2019 of 100+ Women who Care Annapolis Valley, as the Wolfville School Playground Improvement Project was the chosen charity March 21.
The women’s charitable group met for its quarterly event in Kentville’s Main Street Station. Safeguard Property Management & Services will host the next three 2019 meetings of the group as the site sponsor.
Erin Haysom and Kate Dalton represented the Wolfville playground project, which has already tackled turning its soccer field from dirt and rocks into a safe, playable surface; and is now just $25,000 short of its $200,000 playground project, including a retaining wall, outdoor exercise equipment and play structures for all ages. You can find more information – and make your donation – on their website here: http://wolfvilleschoolactivitypark.ca/
Two other groups presented at this evening’s meeting: the Berwick and District Volunteer Fire Department and the Kids Action Program. The Berwick fire department plans to replace a heavy, three-part Jaws of Life tool with an e-draulic multitool. The $15,000 piece of equipment is lighter, easier to use and means, with fewer volunteers and always heavy demands, the department can respond fast and effectively. The Kids Action Program will develop an anger management program for children in response to a presentation it made to Valley paediatricians last fall and their professional suggestion. Both groups received $1,000 advertising support credits with K-Rock.
